Termas Papallacta
Congratulations to Papallacta Spa! Winner, for 2 years in a row, of the Best Resort in all of South America! We are SO proud of our wonderful vendor for having such a beautiful place to visit!
I have been going to Termas Papallacta Spa for many years with my family. Established in 1994, Termas Papallacta Spa is set on 625 beautiful acres in the middle of the Cayambe and Antisana volcanoes, at the beginning of the Amazon Rainforest. Their pools are fed by several thermal baths, heated by the heat of the volcanoes.
There are also walking nature trails that can go on for hours if you so choose. Here you can see over 100 species of humming birds in
a beautiful setting of flora & fauna. Along the way, you are treated with views of the organic garden & many varieties of plant life.
My favorite part of Termas Papallacta is the Salus Per Aquam Spa.
Part of the Spa holds an amazing set of 5 hydrotherapy pools that range from 86 degrees Fahrenheit to a scalding 158 degrees! To get the maximum effect, there is also a cold plunge to bring healing to the body. At Termas Papallacta, healing through water is their mantra and their way of life. Enter the Thermal Club where you can enjoy a range of different treatments aimed toward your best health and beauty.
Termas Papallacta sits at an altitude of 10,826.7 feet above sea level; one of the highest towns in Ecuador! Papallacta provides 60% of the water used in Quito! The heat provided for the thermal pools come from the subterranean activity of the Antisana Volcano, the 4th highest mountain in Ecuador at 18,891 feet above sea level!
Did you know that Ecuador has one of the world's highest concentration of volcanoes with over 30 on the mainland and 15 in Galapagos. Thankfully, not all of them are active!
Can you guess how many species of plants there are in Ecuador? Over eight thousand! If you think that is a lot, you will be so impressed that the bird species is over 16,000!
That is 2xs more than all of Europe! WOW!
To top it all off, the hummingbird species is numbered at 340!
At Papallacta, there have been over 126 different species of birds found, so a visit here will allow one to see many species of fowl.
We cannot wait to show you all of this in person!
