The Spirit behind Mindful Ecuadorian Travel Adventures
One of the first things that I did after starting our business on September 27th 2023, was to go to church and have our business blessed by one of our local priests, Fr. Luis.
It was important to me to bring our business to God first. The funny thing was that Fr. Luis, without even knowing what the business was, said; "I will come" which I found very odd since i had not even told him what the business was or anything about it. He just made the proclamation after he blessed the business.
The next thing that I did was some research to find specific words that would connect us to the energy of Ecuador. Energy is the language of the ancestors and using these words would properly convey our message that we want to honor the spirit of Ecuador and those that have gone before us.
I looked to the ancient language of Kechua from the indigenous people of Ecuador and South America.
According to www.perurail.com:
"Quechua, also called Runa Simi, was the language spoken by the Incas and is the native language that has spread the most throughout South America. Today it is spoken by an average of 12 million people in different regions of Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, Argentina and Bolivia."
In Ecuador it is known as Kechwa And there is a growing popularity in the language happening right now.
So I decided to look into this language and I found these 5 words that tap into the Worldview of the people of the Andes.
First we have ANYI:
Today for you, tomorrow for me.
It means reciprocity. It is the flow created when one gives to another, benefiting both parties.
Next we have TINKU:
Tinku means a meeting-encounter, when people from different communities cross paths with purpose. Two paths meeting to create another, becoming one. Coming to Ecuador allows for one to forge a new path;
A new Tinku.
Then we have UHKU:
Uhku transcends the senses, allowing one to unveil the energy within. Uhku is a cosmic level of existence. Uhku is a calling; a pull that connects you to this magnificent place. Do you feel the calling within?
Next is Q'IWA:
Q'iwa means intentional off-note. It embraces the concept of the wild card. Expect the Unexpected. The hand of the divine dipping into the mundane...creating art in chaos, the FLOW of Q'iwa.
Then we have USHAY:
Ushay is the balance of it all four elements, Earth, Air, Fire, Water. It is perfect balance at the center of the hemispheres. Point 0.00. The middle of the world.
There you have it. This is what makes our agency unique. Mindful. The name is Mindful in so many ways. Mindful on the sense of pondering of the self. Mindful of our tourists and what their tour desires are, mindful of the people of Ecuador, mindful of honoring the beautiful space we are in.
